"The acquirement and enjoyment of physical well-being, mental calm and spiritual peace are priceless to their possessors if there be any such so fortunate living among us today. However, it is the ideal to strive for, and in our opinion, it is only through Contrology that this unique trinity of a balanced body, mind, and spirit can ever be attained." Joseph Pilates(1945)

Gary’s decade-plus of experience...

Gary has presented Concepts in Contrology: Going Beyond Technique at the Pilates Method Alliance 3rd Annual International Conference, Pilates Pure and Simple in Denver, Colorado and was a featured speaker at Polestar Pilates 3rd Annual International Conference, The World of Pilates Excellence in Miami, Florida. At the Polestar event, Gary also led a discussion group on The Relevancy of Pilates in the 21st Century. Gary will be presenting at the 2004 New Voices in Wellness Conference, the first of its kind to combine an audience of health professionals and health seeking public.

Gary is one of the original graduates from The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, studying under Rachel Segal, Amy Alpers (The Taylor Sisters), authors of The Everything Pilates Book, Steve Giordano, and Romana Kryzanowska (disciple of Joseph Pilates).

Gary also apprenticed for 18 months with Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle, creator of the Core Connections® Pilates 3-dimensional Body Mapping Paradigm, and Program Director of the Core Connections® Pilates Teacher Training Program at The Pilates Center of Austin (PCA). Both Boulder and Austin Teacher Training Programs are considered among the most rigorous and comprehensive in the country.

As the founding director of the Pilates Center of Fort Collins, Colorado, Gary brought the classical teaching to the attention of the medical community, working and collaboration with MDs, NDs, PTs, D.C.s, CMTs, NMTs, Rolfers and acupuncturists illuminated the healing potential of the work - particularly around chronic and acute patient populations.

In addition to his transformational training at The Pilates Center of Austin (PCA), Gary completed an Associate Directorship (2000-2002) of the Core Connections® Pilates Training Program and was certified as a “Teacher of Teachers” for PCA. He has delivered PCA’s Teacher Training Program to world class athletes in Austin and Chicago, and continues to travel nationally as a “teacher of teachers” for PCA.

Gary is presently researching and developing a book to illuminate the contemporary understanding of the written words, philosophy and books Your Health and Return to Life through Contrology by Joseph H. Pilates from the 30's and 40's. Within the text of his written work are the concepts that hold relevancy today about optimal wellbeing. These concepts are the health benefits derived from "a coordinated trinity of body, mind & spirit" which is mandated in his treatis and is the result of practicing Pilates’ system of health called Contrology.
