| "The acquirement and enjoyment of physical well-being, mental calm and spiritual peace are priceless to their possessors if there be any such so fortunate living among us today. However, it is the ideal to strive for, and in our opinion, it is only through Contrology that this unique trinity of a balanced body, mind, and spirit can ever be attained." Joseph Pilates(1945) |
About the Author:
Prior to Gary’s Pilates experience, he was immersed in Wholistic
Health Sciences, lecturing in three countries, setting the stage for
this book to be written.
Recognizing then, that all disease stems from any one or a
combination of stress factors debilitating the body, mind and spirit—the
whole of who we are—influenced his choice to become a Pilate’s
teacher. Emerging as a dancer in the late 1970’s and sustaining multiple
injuries, it was only a matter of connecting the dots in his Pilates
experience that healing was known.
As a second generation Pilates teacher, Gary is dedicated to
exploring Pilates as it relates to the experience of healing, human
potential, and heightened consciousness inherent in a return to life,
its intended outcome according to the words of its founder Joseph
Pilates.
Inspired by falling and rising from the grip of disease, life
experience, his own training and the experience of training others, Gary
realized that Pilates is not only relational to gravity but is also
relational to life, culminating into The Pilates Path to Health:
Body, Mind and Spirit. This book was birthed through awareness, a
stand for a shift in perception—a literary discovery of something
unknown. This ‘unknown’ is annotated through the lens of contemporary
philosophy, science and spirituality. This investigation of the
unspoken benefits inherent in the practice of Joseph Pilate's methodology,
then called Contrology, further our understanding why the word
Pilates is a permanent, purposeful fixture in the whole health lexicon
of today.
Finally, a contemporary voice in the Pilates community—speaks for the
collective that recognizes Pilates as more than an exercise regimen—that
lends distinction for teachers with a greater mission to evolve
practitioner, student, and client to their next level of health. Because
Contrology is evolving in a global community where people are
seeking balance in all categories of their lives, this book is timely,
acting as a marker of how Pilates is adapting and serving a 21st century
world.
Gary is a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and The
International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy
Medicine (ISSSEEM).
